Fight Club is a critical reflection about the consumer society in which we live and the effects it causes on individuals. The film begins by showing us several famous brands and how the protagonist and others consume these products in order to fill an inner void. Violence emerges as a momentary way of making those men feel alive. As explained by the protagonist, the most important thing in the fights was not to gain or to lose, it was the sensations that they provoked: pain, adrenaline, power. It was as if they spent all their time sleeping and just woke up in the Fight Club, discharging all the rage accumulated and experiencing a kind of release. A trait that transcends all characters is extreme solitude. Condemned by being inside the system (like the narrator) or by being outside (like Marla), all lead an isolated existence. When they were in the support groups, Marla and the protagonist looked for the same: human contact, honesty, the possibility of crying on the shoulder of a stranger. It is possible that this unsociability, this existential exile is what attracts the men of the Fight Club and, even more, the soldiers of Project Chaos, who live in the same house, eat and sleep together, fighting for the same cause. It is this sense of belonging that seems to draw them to Tyler, one who shares the same revolt and promotes hatred for the capitalist society that excluded them.
