He was the founder of the Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU), which was a student body on the campus of Osmania University. The PDSU is now the student wing of the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) New Democracy. George Reddy was born on January 15, 1947 in Palghat, Kerala, India. His parents were Challa Raghunath Reddy and Leela Verghese. Reddy was murdered on campus within sight of the police, in 1972.
