This is how we filmed the deep sea dragonfish, or dragon fish, sometimes called the viperfish, shown in other videos on this channel. Many people have asked how it was done because such creatures of the deep are usually only seen pickled in museum collections. It was trawled from the deep off San Clemente California in 2005 as part of a research trip by marine biologists organised by the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute in Florida and with the 'New Horizon' research vessel belonging to the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego.
