In this video I begin a realistic portrait drawing by carefully developing the first eye with graphite pencil. Realism in portrait work is built through patience, controlled shading, and the gradual layering of tone. I start with a light outline to establish the structure of the eye. From there I slowly build graphite layers to create the skin tones, depth, and contrast. The darkest areas, including the eyelid crease, lash line, and iris, are developed early to establish the foundation before refining the finer details. This video is part of an ongoing portrait drawing series in which the portrait develops step by step each week. If you enjoy realistic graphite drawings, portrait art, how-to tutorials, and calm, focused art processes, I hope this series encourages you to continue practicing and to appreciate the quiet discipline of drawing. New videos will follow in the coming weeks, stay tuned!
