UPDATE (#15): Bishop Fenwick (Free Church of England): Rev. Roger du Barry Speaks for the Record Rev. Roger du Barry had a 1-2 year association with the FCE. Roger met with six panelists in London for an interview for potential reception as an FCE Presbyter. One of those six panelists was Bishop Paul Hunt around 2006-2007. A barrister (also an FCE Presbyter) led and dominated the interview with Roger. The barrister/FCE Presbyter was the Revd Mark Gretason. The barrister/FCE Presbyter controlled most, if not all, of the questions. Roger's first question from the barrister/FCE Presbyter was, “Are you a Calvinist?” When Roger answered affirmatively, things went downhill and became entirely negative against Roger. The panel then recommended that Roger NOT be received as a Presbyter. Bishop Hunt was a participant. Will Mr. Hunt agree to be interviewed for the record? Will he confirm or deny this? Or will he go into hiding? Will the London barrister/FCE Presbyter speak to the record to clarify, correct, and amplify this report? Or will he too slink away? Roger believed these six panelists did not want a Calvinist as an FCE Presbyter. Roger’s view was that only Anglo-Catholics were allowed into the ministry. Are there affirmations or denials of this? Will Mr. Fenwick speak to the matter, having been openly invited to clarify, correct, or amplify things? Roger noted that his congregation, Emmanuel (same name but different from Emmanuel in Morecambe), rejected the panelists’ negative conclusion and their unanimous vote against Roger. The congregation refused to comply with the London panelists. Bishop Powell (need to recheck the interview for name) caved in on the congregational support for Roger. So, Roger stayed on and ministered at Emmanuel. Roger saw the directions of things to come. Roger’s Mother (fearing injury and emotional harm for her son...6th commandment again...and being a Godly, protective Mother) wisely counseled her Son to avoid getting mixed up in all the “viciousness” (again, 6th commandment material). She didn’t want her Son to get hurt. This goes to the 6th commandment. Roger offered other salient points and is willing to be interviewed again for the record. As a church historian and forensic theologian, I find getting records, documents, and oral histories an essential issue. What is Mr. Fenwick’s legacy, but hurt people, departing congregations, and multiple statements of failed leadership? We are asking Bishop Rosello, Dr. Peter Sanlon, Rev. Julian Mann, Rev. Grahame Wray, Rev. Virgil Tountas, Rev. Arthur Kay, Rev. Jonathan Braggato, Rev. James Paice, Rev. Hannah, Churchwardens, and interested laity to speak to the record of dealings with the FCE and Bishop Fenwick. Contact me at donaldphilipveitch@gmail or FB messenger. You pick the time and date. I’ll get the Zoom link. It will be published. As an aside, the YouTube series is getting 100s of hits. Hit the “like” button if inclined; allegedly, it helps the algorithms. Also, if inclined, leave comments. I try to answer them.
