Removed and reinstalled the TCC (Torque Converter Clutch) solenoid in this 4th generation Subaru Outback 3.6R with the 5-speed 5EAT / 5-EAT "old-school" transmission (not a CVT). This required dropping the valve body out, and everything that requires (shown in the video). Spoiler alert: I was taking out the valve body for other reasons, and decided to also clean the TCC solenoid, to see if it might help with the shudder the vehicle had been experiencing. It really didn't, but this video will show you the entire process for removing AND reinstalling the TCC solenoid. FWIW, no one seems to make a legitimate solenoid for this transmission. Subaru sells only the entire valve body ($1,800 last time I looked). There are vendors on eBay and elsewhere selling "refurbished" solenoids, but I didn't want to go that route, as I might make the (intermittent, low-level) problem worse. In the end, because I'd drained almost all the transmission fluid (8.5 quarts) I also removed almost all the LubeGard Shudder Fixx (sic) additive I'd put in some months previously. Not surprisingly, the shudder was a bit worse after the R/R, but the shudder disappeared completely after adding two tubes of Shudder Fixx. I did a follow-up video showing the test drives, along with the graph of the TCC solenoid current and pressure. This video can be found here: • 2011 Subaru Outback 5EAT torque conve...
