Here is a video walkthrough of my OVRLND Camper build on a 2024 F-150 Crew Cab with a 5.5’ bed. The video shows the overall design and layout of the interior cabinets, seating, water system, sewer system, electrical, solar, propane, and miscellaneous accessories. The main build took approximately 3 months, the layout and design was years in the planning. Because nothing in this build comes from any of the manufacturers specifically made for this type of vehicle, everything had to be custom fit with few exceptions. My main goal in this build was to make camping a comfortable experience for my wife and me. Secondary goals included; keeping the overall weight low, no additional holes or fasteners into my brand new truck other than what was existing, making the construction 99% bullet proof, vibration resistant, and low maintenance. First step to achieving the last goal was to purchase a camper built strong. OVRLND campers are built tough. We looked at a lot of camper as well as trailers, none of them were even close to the build quality we found with OVRLND. The remote type camping that we do, requires something that I can carry or pull behind my truck over some questionable roadways/trails. ALL the many trailers we looked at over the years of research that weren’t specifically made for offroad would just shake apart on the roads that we travel. And all the offroad trailers were both very expensive and heavy. My estimate on total cost of the camper and buildout would be under 20k, with the camper costing about 13k of that. So for under 20k I was able to meet all my requirements and create an offroad capable camping setup that is tough and maneuverable. I did install Bilstein 5100 shocks in the back as well as Sumo helper springs. It just felt a bit top heavy and would sway a bit in the corners. Both fixes worked well to tame the sway and take the handling of the truck back closer to unloaded feel. The 2.7 Ecoboost in the truck handles the additional weight without any issues. I have been averaging 19.2 mpg fully loaded with gear. Next steps for me are new wheels and tires, bumping up to 285/70-18 BFG KO 3’s, and potentially Bilstein 5100’s in the front and small lift.
