With this year’s Budget, we’re investing in the health and wellbeing of every Victorian. The pandemic put unprecedented pressure on health systems all around the world. Which is why we’re investing in our hospitals and healthcare workers, so that every Victorian can get the care they need, close to home. Our $12 billion Pandemic Repair Plan will train and recruit up to 7,000 healthcare workers – including more than 5,000 nurses and midwives. We’re building new hospitals and delivering 40,000 extra elective surgeries in the next year. And we’re hiring 90 paramedics and almost 400 Triple Zero staff, so Victorians can be confident that when they need help, it will arrive. We’re also building on our record investments into mental health by recruiting more than 1500 mental health workers - including more than 300 psychologists, 400 mental health nurses and 100 psychiatrists – and delivering 82 new mental health beds. This is a Budget that looks after every Victorian family – this is Budget that is putting patients first
