IMAS International Mixed Ability Sports is the organiser of the first ever Mixed Ability Rugby World Tournament. More than 400 participants. 10 countries involved. 5 days of free and accessible events. 1 host city, Bradford. The first MARWT has been endorsed by Helen Grant MP, UK Sport and Tourism Minister, Department of Media Culture and Sport, England Rugby, Workers’ Educational Association, Bradford Council, Provident Financial and Sovereign Healthcare. Coinciding with 2015 RWC, and with the spotlight on England as the host country, the MARWT is an unmissable opportunity to promote and expand the Mixed Ability model, showing to a wider audience that it is possible to break down barriers between able bodied and disabled players through integrated sport. Mixed Ability Rugby has the potential to inspire a radical change in the way we consider sport participation and social inclusion, setting a proven model for many other disciplines to follow.
