(Rom. 1:16-17) • First, the bad news: All of us are more messed up than we want to admit. (Rom. 3:10) • We have the opportunity to be right with God through faith in Jesus Christ. (Rom. 3:22-23) HOW TO UNDERSTAND FAITH 1. Faith is trusting God because we believe what He has shown us and told us. (Heb. 11:1) 2. Faith is based on your belief, not your behavior. (Rom. 4:1-15) • It is not because you did the right things. (Rom. 4:4-5) • It is not lost because you did the wrong things. (Rom. 4:6-7) • It is strictly because of what God did and continues to do (grace). (Rom. 4:13,16) 3. The most important part of your faith is the object of your faith. (Rom. 4:16-18) 4. There are two key building blocks to our faith: • Facts (Rom. 4:19) • The Promises of God. (Rom. 4:20-22) 5. The focus of our faith is always Jesus.
