Michale Gabriel - Coming Full Circle: Peace through Story, 2022 In this presentation, Michale Gabriel, a new member of Mastery Circle, will share the story of what prompted her to travel to the former Soviet Union 9 times during the 80’s at the height of the Cold War, the citizen diplomacy/storytelling programs she created that kept her coming back and the Soviet Produced Television series she starred in that ignited a love of English and storytelling in a high school student from Odesa,. That student is now, at age 51, a citizen soldier in Ukraine. He reached out to her initially in 2017 and that unexpected human connection is now, because of the war, bringing Michale back to Ukraine weekly via Zoom supporting displaced University students across Ukraine and in neighboring countries. Michale uses her storytelling skills to bring them stories of comfort, hope and courage and works with them to create their vision, their story of the new Ukraine and their role in creating it. And she will share what she is learning about creating Peace through Story, 2022 with all of us.
