In part 6 of Exploring the Id, we review the PC classic, Wolfenstein 3D. Released in 1992, the shareware version of Wolfenstein 3D devoured the bandwidth of Bulletin Board Systems everywhere. We take a look at the gameplay of Wolf3D itself, its prequels "The Nocturnal Missions" and "Spear of Destiny", the cancelled expansion pack "Rise of the Triad", the ports, and some of its mods. We also debunk the infamous rumor between id Software and Color Dreams/Wisdom Tree, the company that used the Wolfenstein 3D engine to create the unlicensed SNES game "Super Noah's Ark 3D".
