Train at a Faster Pace – Don’t just aim for 15 min/mile. Train at 13–14 min/mile so the actual event feels easier. 2. Dial in Your Footwear – Worn-out boots = blisters and slower pace. Use broken-in, high-performance boots and ruck-specific socks. 3. Minimize Bounce – Tighten your straps, chest clip your ruck, and keep the load high. Excess sway = wasted energy. 4. Master Your Stride – Short, fast, consistent steps. Don’t run. Don’t overstride. 5. Hydrate Early – If you’re sipping water for the first time at mile 6, you’re already behind. 6. Know the Route – Train on similar terrain. If it’s all flat and paved, mimic that. If it’s hilly, embrace it in training. 7. Fuel Before, Not During – You shouldn’t need to eat much mid-march. Carb-load the day before and eat a solid pre-ruck meal. Bonus Tip: Ruck Harder in Training. Add hills, sand, heavier weight, and heat.
