IC 4017 , digital counter plus decoder circuit , is a CMOS Decade counter IC and is used for low range counting applications with 10 different outputs at its 10 pins ( 1-7,9-11). ____________________________________________ Components used: 1 . IC 4017 - 1 2 . LEDs 5mm - 7 3 . 1k ohm - 1 4 . 9v battery / 6-9v dc supply 4 . some wires, soldering wire,iron ____________________________________________ About IC 4017 : •The clock speed or operational speed of  CD4017 IC is 5 MHz. •It is very sensitive to the static electricity. •Pins 1 to 7 and 9 to 11 are outputs pins. •Pin 16 - Vcc supply •Pin 8 - Ground •Pin 15 - Reset Pin to reset the output sequence. •Pin 13 - Enable Pin to enable the IC •Pin 14 - clock Pin responsible for sequential output , if connected to ground , stops the chasing effect and switches on only one random pin.
