LOCATION SCOUTING FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS AT ANY LEVEL

Come take a walk with me through Yale University's campus along side a few friends as we chat through how I look for locations and some of the things I look for when I'm trying to find new places for photoshoots. Photographers so often get sucked into one general composition or theme for their work that they miss the magic in the locations that are right around them. Learning to look for locations that offer depth, interesting texture, compositional options all in one general area, and scale has given me a portfolio filled with work that is constantly growing and changing whether I'm shooting in familiar places or scouting some place brand new. This video is for all levels of photographer. From seasoned professionals who may just need the affirmation to get out there and try to see something in a new way to beginners trying to break their creativity out of shooting against 2 dimensional backdrops and safe lighting. This walk through New Haven, CT wasn't planned with models, nor did we over prep what I was going to say. Instead we just wandered with some friends and had a real chat about the way I look for places to shoot, the things I try to capture inside those places, and ways that photographers can level up their scouting using easy to understand concepts.
