Read Richard's full review here: http://carsgui.de/1pmvUHi Find out more at our Kia Picanto hub: http://carsgui.de/1SUFHvR - - - - - - - - - Kia has introduced a new model to its Australian line-up. It's smallest car Kia makes and it called the Picanto. We're here at its Australian launch of the Picanto to drive it on local roads and see what it has to offer. Let's take a look... So what do you need to know? It's smaller than a Kia Rio or Holden Barina, it's actually in the segment below them – the micro car segment. So it's up against the Holden Spark, Mitsubishi Mirage, Nissan Micra and Suzuki Celerio. And the Picanto competes closely on price with these. This generation of the Picanto went on sale in Europe in 2011 and it's been really popular over there. The Picanto was updated last year and this is that updated car. So this Picanto has been around for quite a long time, just not in Australia – and within the next 12 months the new generation Picanto will arrive . So what do you do? You could wait for that new car it'll be more modern and have the latest tech, but it's very unlikely to be priced as low as this one. So let's talk about the current Picanto. It's very straight forward there's only one specification of the Picanto the Si and it has a four cylinder petrol engine and a four-speed automatic transmission. What's it like to drive? The steering is good- the turning circle is excellent the brakes are a bit sharp and the auto could do with a fifth gear – but overall it's reaaly – it's really a car for the city car but can handle open road with no worries too Like pretty much every microcar in the Australian market the Picanto's standard features list really just covers the basics. There's rear parking sensors, a CD player, Bluetooth, cloth seats and power windows in the front and back. We're really pleased with the Picanto's cabin – this might be a tiny car but the cockpit is mature in its stylish design. Even the cloth seats are tasteful with its ‘electrical circuit' pattern. The Picanto is made in Korea and the car that's on sale in Australia has been tuned for Europe. Still we found the ride even on our local roads to be impressively good – it's comfortable and composed. The Picanto is a car that'll be most at home the city it easy to drive, it'll fit into ridicuoulsy tiny spaces and there plenty of grunt to buzz around town. We took it out on the open road too – it handle that without any dramas. It's good looking, as well – and some of its rivals aren't at all pretty.Sure it isn't faultless, but taking into account seven year warranty too you're getting a good package at a great price.
