"Exhaustion creeps from my aching arm to my restless mind. I hear the boys in the twelfth, standing tall along the western front. No guarantee of victory, a entire nation of fascists staring us down, throwing their young at us while they hid in their castles. It snowed along the rhine for three weeks straight. We survived the winter. I can survive this. - - 1944. Today. It's all the same. The enemy wants the front to fall back. So the only victory is marching on." Stand at attention and salute ladies and germs, the Captain has arrived! Captain America, my third favourite superhero and favourite Avenger. You know, a long while ago Cap would probably not have made my top favourite heroes but ever since 2020, I dunno, something changed. Maybe it's because I realised how similar he and Optimus Prime, my favourite character ever, are, or maybe its because I was playing Mass Effect for the first time at the time and thought of my Commander Shepard as Space Captain America. Or maybe its because...Steve Roger is just THAT guy. From beating up Nazis, standing up to the corruption and status quo of the nation Cap represents, Captain America made me realise that patriotism and pride in one's identity is not blind loyalty to a flag or a government, but to the best aspirations, the dreams and ideals that one's nation should strive for. As countries across the world spiral further and further into nationalism, I've come to understand that, and I say this as someone who isn't an American- we need Captain America. We need someone like him to lead the charge against evil. I was very adamant about releasing this video on the anniversary of D-Day, 81 years to this day, to be precise, because of Cap's origins in the war. I considered other significant WW2 dates but honestly I only really knuckled down to finish this video just this week. What's more, the song, Primo Victoria by Sabaton, is about the D-Day landings, so it made natural sense to drop this today. Even more so, I figured this would be the perfect day to post a tribute to the greatest destroyer of Nazis known to fiction, you know, as an extra-special fuck-you to Nazis, since they're getting way too comfortable these days. Anyway, take this video as inspiration to go beat up some Axis, soldier. The Captain orders you to, and you know you wanna do it.
