I attempt to put forth a set of criteria by which we can find the toughest language to learn according to different factors. There are five factors that language difficulty depend on: Your mother tongue Your experience learning other languages Your mindset Your motivation The approximate time you need to learn a language according to statistics, grammar, pronunciation, word order, letter order, levels of politeness etc. The Foreign Service Institute (FSI) of the United States has made a list to show the approximate time you need to learn a specific language as an English speaker.
