Abstract: ----------- Embedded Systems are growing increasingly complex and connected. At the same time, integrated circuits, processor architectures, and firmware components can be drastically different, which makes it challenging to draw conclusions that affect all embedded systems. One thing that all of them have in common is printed circuit boards. When we attack systems, we care about how the hardware components connect and interact. If we don’t know how the components work together, we may not be able to consider the full attack surface of the system. Hence, reverse engineering PCB, its components, and their connections are the essential first step in analyzing the security of a system. This webinar will highlight what pieces of information we can get (for free!) and how we can automate dealing with that information to assess the security of embedded systems quickly. The presenter will also highlight some tricks that can drastically improve the quality and efficiency of tasks that can be performed at a later stage of the assessment (Firmware Analysis, etc.). About Speaker: ------------------ Ferdinand has been very passionate about information security ever since he was young, and hardware security is a big field of interest for him. In the past, he has been working with Javier in numerous embedded security projects, and together, they presented the CANBadger, a novel automotive hacking tool, at Blackhat and DefCon 2016. #Embedded #Hardware #Security ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Website: https://hardwear.io Twitter: / hardwear_io Facebook: / hardwear.io LinkedIn: / hardwear.io-hardwaresecurityconferenceandt...
