Traveling to arguably the MOST Controversial region in Europe. Kosovo is one of the most divisive places on Earth. In fact, depending on who you ask, many to this day, don't accept the region of Kosovo as a real country, but instead part of Serbia. Kosovo is a region where tensions run high to this day. Nowhere do tensions run higher than the town we are traveling to today. We travelled to the north of Kosovo to explore one of the most divided towns in Europe. The town of Mitrovica is split between Serbians and Kosovar Albanians, with the Kosovars living south of the River Ibar and the Serbians living to the north of it. The bridge through the middle of the town is guarded 24/7 by NATO peacekeepers and is closed to car traffic. In fact, in many ways crossing the bridge to the north of the town feels like you have crossed from Albania in to Serbia.
