Your brain’s Reticular Activating System determines what you notice 🔍 It acts as a filter to sort through the overwhelming amount of information it receives at any given time 🗳️ At the same time, your brain naturally searches for evidence to support its pre-existing beliefs and view of reality (confirmation bias) 🔄 This is why, once you decide on a clear goal and commit to it with a positive mindset, you start to notice resources, opportunities and ideas that will help get you there 📈 It also explains why a negative mindset can keep you stuck in your comfort zone🤷♂️ This is the neuroscience behind manifestation and explains why, when you hear a new word, you suddenly hear it everywhere!👂 So this week, work with your Reticular Activating System to build confidence by building a bank of references in these 3 ways: 1️⃣ The Past ⏪ Build a bank of references from your own past by reflecting on your wins, either daily or weekly 📝 It’s powerful to add to this lists of: 👉 The accomplishments you’re most proud of 👉 The things you now have which were once goals 👉 Everything you’re grateful for You can also build references vicariously by looking to other people (see my posts on the Bannister Effect) 📰 That’s why it’s key to consciously choose the media you consume and the role models you have 📲 2️⃣ The Present ▶️ Create new references by completing small steps and tiny actions towards your goals 👣 This is why habit trackers and recording progress are powerful for momentum ✅ If you can consistently focus on getting the reps in, quickly you’ll have built up a bank of references and a new identity 💪 3️⃣ The Future ⏩ As Oprah Winfrey says, “if you can see it and you believe it, it is a lot easier to achieve it” 🔮 Practise visualisation to see yourself achieving the outcome in your future 🎯 This is key if you are doing something no-one else has done before and it helps the process feel less daunting, increasing your confidence as you take the steps towards achieving the goal 📈 Save this to refer back to for a confidence or motivation boost, and follow here and on Intagram @georgehearn_ for more tips on designing and building your ideal life 🚀
