Armed Robbery Suspect Shot After Running into Restaurant & Pointed Gun @ Officer
Police Involved Shooting of Jose Arenas-On April 3, 2021, at about 8:15 p.m., Phoenix Police responded to an armed robbery call in the area of 75th Avenue and Indian School Road. Officers located an adult male suspect who was armed with a handgun and was alleged to have attempted multiple armed robberies of citizens. Officers gave commands for the suspect to drop the gun, which he ignored while he fled into a nearby restaurant with people inside. Officers followed the suspect into the restaurant and the suspect again ignored commands to drop the gun and pointed it at an officer. One officer fired his duty weapon, striking the suspect and stopping the threat. Officers provided first aid until Phoenix Fire personnel responded to transport the suspect to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
