Thrifting the Unexpected! Vintage Glass, Antique Oddities & More!

We’ve got a chance to plunder a Peddlers Mall in a quick roadside stop! We’re seeking antiques and vintage among the hundred-plus vendors in this large space, hoping to find things our collectors will treasure. Huntington, West Virginia holds special memories for us, having once been home to Pilgrim Glass, and we're hoping to spot some of their iconic vintage pieces. But there’s much more than pretty glass to be had! MCM pottery, elegant etageres, beer signs and WWII bombs are all equally at home here, alongside baseball cards, an oak ambulance cask from the Civil War, a wildly misplaced clam steamer and other odd finds as we wend our way through. Along the way, we ponder the fate of Betamax and VCRs in the vintage world, mull over a print of the Code of Ethics for Government Service, admire a 1910s Kitchen Queen stove, and marvel at the elegance of 19th-century jouster engravings. A 1960s Ericaphone, a Halley’s Comet nightlight, a well-priced 1950s Ram hood ornament and a quirky $5 owl napkin holder all catch our attention—each with its own story to tell! We find plenty of good things to take home in the end…a fun 1950s kid’s chalkboard, a scarcer color of Fenton Crest glass, Fostoria Heirloom and even a Pilgrim cased piece that presages their famous cameo glass lines make their way to our pile.
