KL Rahul (26*) along with nightwatchman Kuldeep Yadav (0*) remained unbeaten till stumps as India A finished day two on 78/3. India A currently lead South Africa A by 112 runs. The Proteas will be hoping to start day three on a positive note by picking up quick wickets as they will be batting last in this game and it won't be easy. Earlier in the day South Africa A began their reply to India A’s 255 but were rocked early as Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj delivered three quick strikes including the prized wicket of returning skipper Temba Bavuma for a golden duck. Reduced to 12/3 the visitors were in deep trouble before opener Jordan Hermann and captain Marques Ackerman steadied the innings with a determined stand guiding their team to 76/3 at Lunch. The brief recovery was cut short soon after Lunch as Prasidh Krishna struck twice in quick succession sparking a dramatic collapse that left South Africa A tottering at 121/7. But skipper Marques Ackerman (134) stood tall amid the chaos counter-attacking brilliantly to notch up a splendid century off just 99 balls keeping his side in the fight. Despite his heroics the rest couldn’t withstand the pressure as South Africa A were eventually bowled out for 221 handing India A a crucial first-innings lead of 34 runs. Prasidh Krishna (3/35) was the pick of the bowlers for India A. India A began their second innings on a shaky note in the evening session. Abhimanyu Easwaran’s struggles continued as he was trapped in front by Okuhle Cele in the second over dismissed for a duck and recording a pair in the match. Sai Sudharsan and KL Rahul steadied the innings briefly with a 35-run stand for the second wicket before Sudharsan was adjudged LBW for 23 with Tiaan van Vuuren striking just before the Drinks break. KL Rahul (26*) looked composed at one end holding the innings together with a patient knock. He was well supported by Devdutt Padikkal as the duo added 38 valuable runs for the third wicket. Padikkal’s stay ended late in the day when he was dismissed by Okuhle Cele for 24. Kuldeep Yadav was sent in as the nightwatchman and safely negotiated the final few overs. At stumps India A are 78/3 leading South Africa A by 112 runs.
