"Sometimes you have to swallow your pride and choose a path most needed by your country rather than choosing the path that excites you the most" Through the idea cost-limiting molecular tools for diagnosing infectious diseases, Dr. Raul Destura, together with his team, created the first local rapid diagnostic test kits for the Philippines. Through their team, the Philippines has had a faster approach to detecting COVID-19. Although, these innovation did not come without challenges especially during a pandemic. Dr. Raul is the DOST-NRCP Vice President who was the Filipino Scientist to develop the first local COVID-19 testing kit.
