It operates as train number 22177 from Mumbai CSMT to Varanasi Junction and as train number 22178 in the reverse direction. Mahanagri Express is converted ICF coaches into LHB coaches in year 2023. Train consist of 22 coaches LHB rake : - 1 SLR , 1 EOG , 4 General Class , 6 Sleeper Class , 7 AC 3 Tier , 2 AC 2 Tier , 1 First AC Class Cum AC 2 Tier Varanasi Junction railway station (station code: BSB) is the main railway station serving the city of Varanasi. The other key railway stations in the Varanasi Metro area are Banaras, Varanasi City, Kashi and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction. The junction station is sandwiched between the cantonment region and Chetganj region of the city. The station is partially controlled by the Lucknow Division of the Northern Railway Zone and the Varanasi Division of the North Eastern Railway Zone of the Indian Railways. Varanasi Junction railway station nearly reaches the frequency of 300 trains daily. Almost, 29 trains originate and terminate at the station. Premium trains of Indian Railways also originate from the Varanasi Junction, such as Vande Bharat Express, Mahamana Express Rajdhani Express. The first line to the temple town was opened from Howrah in 1862. The Chief Engineer of East Indian Railway Company, George Turnbull directed and built the route via Patna. In 1872, a line was added for Lucknow and in 1887, Malviya Bridge was opened to connect the city with Mughalsarai. Also, the bridge connected the Oudh and the Rohilkhand Railway with those of the East India Company at Mughal Sarai. The Varanasi Junction railway station has a modern Route Interlock System with an automated signaling system. Varanasi Junction railway station was ranked 14th among 75 busiest A1 category stations on the cleanliness scale. At present, there are 11 platforms while 1 more platform is being constructed to take off the load. Well, the station is equipped with water ATMs, escalators, Wifi, lifts, and many other public conveniences. Due to heavy inflow of tourists from across the country, the railway administration has planned to add the public announcements in other languages such as Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, Odia, Marathi, and Telugu. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), officially Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), and also known as Victoria Terminus (VT), is a historic railway terminus and UNESCO World Heritage Site in Mumbai (Bombay), Maharashtra, India. The terminus was designed by a British architectural engineer Frederick William Stevens from an initial design by Axel Haig, in an exuberant Italian Gothic style. Its construction began in 1878, in a location south of the old Bori Bunder railway station, and was completed in 1887, the year of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. Inside Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, 2022 In March 1996, the station's official name was changed from Victoria Terminus to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus after Shivaji, the 17th-century warrior king and the first Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire, who founded the polity in the western Marathi-speaking regions of the Deccan Plateau. In 2017, the station was again renamed to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (with code CSMT), in which the title Maharaj means "great king" or emperor. The initials VT and CST are commonly used for the station. The terminus is the headquarters of India's Central Railway. It is one of the busiest railway stations in India, serving as a terminal for both long-distance and suburban trains with a total number of 18 platforms. The station was a filming location for the "Jai Ho" song in Slumdog Millionaire, the 2011 Indian film Ra.One, and the 2013 film The Attacks of 26/11.
