How to surf - perfect your pop up / take off. Today's video was going to be another 'beginner mistakes' format, however once I started editing I realised that I needed to focus more on the take off. The more I coach people the faster I am realising that this crucial element of surfing is holding so many beginner-intermediates back from realising their potential as surfers. There are some key cues to watch out for which I have covered in previous videos which you should definitely check out, but without being 'too intellectual' about a take off today, I wanted to show you how changing someone's technique actually works in person. Simply by breaking down my client's pop up into two stages, and asking him to restrict his waves to white water only, we were able to see a drastic improvement in technique which will transfer perfectly to his 'green wave' approach next time.
