These are named according to their positions and uses. The crowns of the incisors and canines have four surfaces and a ridge, and the crowns of the premolars and molars have five surfaces. In this video, we will be dealing with the SURFACES AND RIDGES of the tooth. Labial surface faces the lips. Buccal surface faces the cheeks. Lingual surface faces the tongue. Mesial Surface faces towards the midline. Distal Surface faces away from the midline. Occlusal Surface comes in contact with the opposite tooth during occlusion, present in premolars and molars. Incisal Ridge is present on the incisal surface of Incisors and Canines.
