With the VINTAGE series we want to offer you some videos from the archives of the band. After 20 years of live shows it might be a good time to take a look at how the band evolved over the years. Check it out! It won’t get more vintage than this: this cut comes from the oldest band footage available! It was shot at the sixth ever Bacon Fat live gig during their first tour: the ‘Bacon Fat Tour 2001’ which spawned 21 shows. Caught on camera by Omer Devlaeminck at café ’t Kliekske in Landen on Thursday May 31st, 2001. Written in 1999 by W. Johnson before the first line up got together. Thus being one of the very first Bacon Fat songs. It was recorded during the sessions for the ‘Bacon Fat’ demo (2001) but didn’t make the final selection. In 2002 a new heavy pumping bass riff replaced the original bass and Louisa was finally released on the ‘Show Some Steel’ demo (2003). Although the song always remained in the live set, the official release was only on the second album ‘Reinventing the Mojo’ (2007). As everybody knows the song in the 2002 version, we are glad to bring you the ONLY existing live video of the original version of this Bacon Fat evergreen. Yes, indeed, Louisa was heavily inspired by Boogie Chillen No.2 by mr. John Lee Hooker and Canned Heat. It had the same groove and bass, Bacon Fat only played it faster. As this was the very beginning of the band you’ll get to see a ‘pre-bandana era’ W. Johnson. Bacon Fat Mk1: W.
