I really liked Spooky’s Jumpscare Mansion, I thought it was a delightful little game, but it left me wanting to have my own little spin on the soundtrack, so I decided to give it a fresh coat of paint! (or in this case, sound.) I hope you all enjoy it! -------------------------------------------- Beep Beep I'm a deer - Composer Commentary: I’m sorry Tomska. The Deer Lord is my second favorite Specimen. I love its design, its area and its chase theme a whole lot. I had a ton of fun making its chase theme. It's very much inspired by the original piece from the game, but I wanted to emphasize my experience a lot more: Section 1: I wanted the player to feel like they’ve entered an entirely different dimension. As the piano kicks in over the synth and the deer lord finally shows his face, I wanted the player to feel threatened, the viola and strings were added to provide a contrast to the synths in the background and basically state “this guy is serious, run.” After the main event is over, we get a little bit of a more dramatic turn, with this I wanted to emphasize that “The Deer lord has caught you. It’s over.” And then...Silence. Section 2: With the dramatic section, we move to a more peaceful situation, a gentle piano (mostly inspired by the works of Debussy) asks us: is this it? Do we have no choice but to succumb to the Deer Lord? Maybe there's hope? The next section answers this with a big, hard: Section 3: No. Our submission is inevitable. The clarinets here are a direct sample from Stravinsky’s Three Pieces for Solo Clarinet, but they aren’t used here to make the player feel nostalgic or even scared. Even though one clarinet is playing in the foreground, there are thousands more playing in the background, our soul has just become one of the Deer Lord’s many victims, the player’s soul now wanders an endless maze inside the Deer Lord’s cloak. -------------------------------------------- Bandcamp: romm.bandcamp.com Soundcloud:   / rommandel
