On October 11th and 12th, 2014, the Reading, Blue Mountain, and Northern, or RBMN for short, operated a round trip excursion from the RBMN headquarters in Port Clinton, PA, to Jim Thorpe, PA. The trip was given to moniker of "The Autumn Leaf Express", fitting for a train riding through the mountains of northeastern PA as the fall foliage hit its climax for the 2014 season. Putting in my request off from work for the 11th weeks in advance, I hoped for good weather for the day of the excursion. To my disappointment, rain kicked in the morning of the excursion. However, by late morning, the rain was tapering off, and by the end of the day, the sun was out in full force at times. So sit back and enjoy as we take a journey onto the road of Anthracite, and embark on our chase of R&N 4-6-2 #425. The Pacific type steam locomotive was sporting a Nathan 5 Chime Whistle on this day, and was putting on quite an impressive show as it barked up the grades of the RBMN trackage. Enjoy!
