The music is written to give extra attention to basic fundamentals of playing-long tones, flexibility slurs, finger patterns (scale patterns), chorale, a challenge chromatic scale for the high achievers (doesn't correlate with the band book, but does correlate with a fingering chart 😁😁). Some recommendations for use: allot time to learn each of the exercises, maybe one a day/couple of days, until they can play each one. Then just play through it each day. The idea is REINFORCEMENT. use the rests to give instructions as you play through... some examples: "use steady air" "firm corners" "RELAX" "SIT UP!!!!!!!!"
