It was initially intended to be the debut single, but that ended up being “Supersonic” instead. Noel has cited this song as “a tribute to The Stooges, the MC5 and punk rock”. The no-frills production, thick-sounding, full-on distorted guitars, fast tempo, political undercurrent, and references to class struggle in the lyrics make this feel like a genuine punk rock song. Like most of Paul “Bonehead” Arthur's guitar parts, this is full of barre chords and power chords. Watching him play this live, depending on the performance, he tends to go between alternate strumming and down strums. In this performance, I have stuck with alternate strumming for the best part, and used downstrokes when the drums his the tom rolls.
