Rohrleitung Gate couldn't be completed without using cheat codes and Lua scripts. This game is programmed to have 2 "victory" stages: A win and win stage, and a win but lose stage. If you beat worlds 1 and 2, the world complete stage will load the next world telling you failed. If you beat world 3, the win but lose victory stage ends your game telling you failed, and it would be unwise to try again as the next challenge would be impossible. Then, when you go to World 4, you can only warp back to World 3. However, using the Chaos Edition Lua, you can go directly to World 4 without beating the game once, and it would spawn the kaizo blocks required to go through the hidden pipe that doesn't warp you. You also need to set value 0x0723 to 0x00 so the screen can scroll. You can also use a beanstalk. After using the pipe/beanstalk, you will get sent to a hidden room stating that success was still possible, and then you will be sent to a mysterious stage. After that, you will end up in a Coin Heavens stage stating you must defeat Bowser for success to happen. Now, here is the tricky part. You must set value 0x0750 to 0x62 first, and then warp through the Bowser exit pipe. This will send you to the tricky castle stage in World 3. Play that stage and warp through the pipe. While Mario is warping, deactivate the 0x0723=0x00 cheat code. This will send you to World 2's finishing area. Hit the ax. There are 2 outcomes. First outcome: You finish the level with lots of time to spare. This causes the game's anti-cheat sensors to be triggered, and it overrides the victory function sending you to World 5. Second outcome: You barely finish the level. The win and win victory stage will play, telling you passed, and congratulations! You have completed Rohrleitung Gate and became a successful time traveler! (In the virtual world) Fun facts about this hack: 1-Ups T you up, so avoid them at all costs Finishing a level with time to spare gives you 1 extra life per 100 seconds to spare, rounded down. Most levels take place underground "Rohrleitung" is German for pipeline, and the reason why German was used is because the hack has the theme of time travel, and Einstein came up with the time-traveling theory of relativity of E=mc^2! Super Mushrooms can activate kaizo blocks There is a hidden warp zone in the underground bonus room in World 3 that supposedly can take you to World 4, but it doesn't work. Underwater levels crash the game. This hack uses 5 layers of background sprites, compared to 1 layer in the original Super Mario Bros. World 1's rooms are interconnected, but World 2, 3, and 4's rooms aren't. That's the reason why Worlds 2 and 3 only have checkpoints and start with 900 seconds along with World 4. Worlds 5, 6, 7, 8, and the other glitched worlds do exist, but they are unplayable. The cost of being able to go backwards is you can only load 2 chunks per area. There is a beta version of this hack that is much harder than the original. Line Beta is equivalent to World x-2, and World 1-2 is a pipe intermission level that doesn't work. It is supposed that Line Beta uses even harder levels. World 2-x, 3-x, and 4-x all represent the rooms in Worlds 2, 3, and 4. Music equivalents: Main theme: Overworld/Underground theme Transition: Coin Heavens theme Invincibility: Modified star theme Castle: Castle theme Boss: Final Bowser fight theme (not used in NES, used in SNES) Player Dead: Death Theme Game Over: Game Over Theme Level Clear: World Clear Theme Bad Ending: Negative Victory (win but lose) Theme Abuse Ending: Positive Victory (win and win) Theme Good Ending: Area Clear Theme
