Artist: Abominable Putridity Song: Entrails Full of Vermin Album: In the End of Human Existence (2007) Genre: Slamming Brutal Death Metal Tuning: Drop A (A E A D F# B) ---------- Another slam classic. I don't think the genre would be the same today without this album. It's like the precursor of the modern slam sound. Much more catchy, easier to get into and with cleaner production (still a product of its time though, but by comparison) than the slam albums that came before. For the guitar tone I used the Peavey 6505/Boss DS-1 combo from the Extermination Dismemberment cover again. It has such a thick tone with a very defined pick attack and super deep sounding sustaining notes, quite different from any Tube Screamer style OD pedal because the DS-1 scoops the mids rather than boost them. Unfortunately the stock DS-1 has way too much gain on tap even with the distortion knob all the way down. The so called "fat mod" makes it much more usable though (change R9 to 1k Ohm and R6 to 150k Ohm). In addition I also changed C3 to 22 nF. It cuts some of the excess bass in the signal. With those mods the DS-1 is just sick and probably the pedal I use the most when I'm just fooling around by myself. It also works really well with my Marshall DSL100H. It makes for an absolutely nasty, out of control brutal death metal tone, perfect for stuff like Putridity, Disgorge, etc. I hope I'll find the right song to use it on this channel at some point in the future :) ---------- Guitar Tone: Jackson Pro DK2 Dinky w/ Seymour Duncan TB-6 Distortion bridge pickup D'Addario strings (013-017-026-036-046-068) Boss DS-1 w/ fat mod Peavey 6505+ w/ original 5150 spec lead channel mod Mesa/Boogie Rectifier Traditional straight 4x12 V30 impulse response
