Is there a specific area where you struggle to trust God fully? • Whoever wants to be my disciple (whoever wants to be a follower of Jesus) must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for my sake will save it. | Luke 9, v.23-24 • It’s not that God is asking so much OF us. It’s that he has so much FOR us. • You were meant to trust your heavenly Father. • Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? ...continued | Matthew 6, v.25-35 • God takes full responsibility for the life that is wholly devoted to him. • No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. | Matthew 6, v.24 • Money makes a great servant, but it’s a terrible master. • You can’t speed up God’s plan for your spouse by worrying. • Death spiral: Do not try this at home. • God’s not going to drop us. • Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your request to God.
