Located on the coast of Oaxaca, Mexico, the 130-square-meter residence draws inspiration from Henry David Thoreau's philosophy, emphasizing simplicity, self-discovery, and sustainability. The house consists of two main volumes, positioned like stones facing the sea, framing the breathtaking coastal landscape while creating flexible living spaces. Built using locally sourced materials and crafted by skilled workers from the community, the project embodies social and environmental responsibility. More than a dwelling, Casa del Sapo serves as a gathering place, a school, a refuge, and a shared home, fostering a deep sense of belonging among its residents and visitors. Through this project, architecture becomes a means of building not just spaces, but also meaningful relationships with people and the environment.
