The documentary “Dry Fodder Enrichment in Dairy Farming” was developed under World Bank Funded-Karnataka Watershed Development Project-II (KWDP- II); Sujala-III project of Government of Karnataka, India. This documentary was developed by Sujala-III team of Veterinary College, Bidar which is an institution under Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, Bidar. Among various activities undertaken in selected villages of Bidar district under this project, “Dry Fodder Enrichment in Dairy Farming” is considered as most important for the farmers since this district has shortage of fodder during summer season for the dairy animals. Hence, efforts are made to create awareness and disseminate scientific information about enrichment of dry fodder through urea treatment. Since sugarcane is the predominant crop in this region, sugarcane trash was used as fodder for dairy animals after urea treatment. The farmers have expressed their interest towards this practice and have realized the importance sugarcane trash as fodder ultimately leading to improved production and reduced fodder losses. Presently, the farmers have improved their knowledge about dry fodder enrichment and have further emphasized horizontal transfer of technical information.
