However, these two techniques can be modified so that the PC tear can be avoided. I propose that the PC tear occurs due to a stretch on posterior capsule and zonulae by retrodisplacement of cataract when AC is deepened and pressurised in a closed chamber. In this novel technique, AC and IOP are maintained within their normal ranges, and the capsular separating hydrodissection is performed very gently and in sectors. The PC does not stretch and balloon backwards.
