Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has a more complex history than you might think! The area it sits on has had other Disneyland attractions dating back to opening day in 1955, and those attractions have influenced the look of the rollercoaster ride and its scenery. From the stagecoaches and pack mules to the Rainbow Caverns Mine Train and Mine Train Thru Nature's Wonderland, all the way to the mountain of the present day. This is the full history of Big Thunder Mountain! NOTE: I am not an actual university-educated historian. "Alex the Historian" was a stage name created back in 2016 as a light-hearted reference to my Disneyland history content, and I never try to mislead people into thinking otherwise. The name has grown to become part of my channel, just like my hat has become part of my appearance.
