Dawie Lindner keybord player from South Africa - Cover of Aber dich gibt's nur einmal für mich (But you only exist once for me) The original Nilsen Brothers Pepe Ederer (1932), Gerd Gudera (1933) and Walter Leykauf (1942) came from a village in Oberpfalz. They performed as amateur singers at small and large events and also won a talent competition of the Bayerischer Rundfunk. They were then invited to the TV show Toi, Toi, Toi, hosted by Peter Frankenfeld. After a performance in Hamburg, they received various offers from record labels, but eventually it became the Cologne label Electrola. Their first German-language single, Tom Dooley, was produced in the fall of 1958 and hit the German charts in December, where they made it to 1st place. They were also represented in the slot machine market charts with a listing of 36 weeks, the youth magazine Bravo recorded the number for 28 weeks in its Musicbox chart from December 1958 to July 1959, of which twelve times at number 1. The song was also sung in the film comedy Always those Mädchen. Until 1961 10 singles were recorded with Electrola, including songs with Boy Berger and Angèla Durand. The title Die Cowboys von der Silver Ranch, together with Angèle Durand, hit the charts (1960, 2nd place). Further chart successes were Tom Dooley II (1960, 40th place), Sacramento (1961, 22nd place) and Stielaugen-Tango (1962, 50th place). The title Aber dich gibt's nur einmal für mich, composed by Ederer, only entered the charts in Austria (1967, 9th place). After the expiry of the contract with Electrola, there were only brief commitments with the labels Ariola, Decca Records and Philips. Only in 1965 they got a long-term contract with the Duisburg label Populär, good for more than ten single productions. In addition, they also collaborated in various films. In 1969 the Nilsen Brothers settled in Switzerland. After Ederer started publishing solo records in 1970 as both composer and producer and also Leykauf had gone his own way under the singer-pseudonym Patrizius, the trio disappeared from the public eye and started a production company instead. In 1975 Leykauf was replaced by Marc Holder. Subsequent comeback attempts came to nothing. In 2005 the trio released a CD entitled Vergiss nie deine Träume, on which new versions of Aber dich gibt's nur einmal für mich and Mein Schatz, ich hab 'dich heut noch lieb can be found.
