I test it with single notes at 2:35 and with some funny chord glissandis at 3:50 The problem with the NE555 when used in musical applications is that there are many components that can affect the tuning - two resistors, a capacitor, a CV input, and the NE555 itself, and because of the way the NE555 is made none of them result in a proportional raising or lowering of the frequency. If I want to simultanously tune a row of NE555 oscillators it would be natural to use the CV input on pin 5, but when I made my NE555 based string....thing I couldn't really get it to work so I abandoned the idea. However, I was stilll puzzled by the fact that it didn't work properly, so in this video I test an idea I had for making the aforementioned row of NE555s tuning more equally. The music is 'Lady Di' that I found in a book of sheet music by the French pianist Richard Clayderman. I recorded it as a combination of MIDI and multitrack on my Technics SX-EA5 organ.
