$3 AliExpress Heart Rate and Oxygen Sensor Module

Thanks to https://www.PCBWay.com/?from=atomic for the fantastic PCBs and SMT assembly. In this video I finally put one of my many “cute little” AliExpress modules to work. This time it’s the MAX30102 heart rate and blood oxygen sensor, paired with an ESP32-C3. It uses a red LED and an infrared LED to measure pulse and estimate SpO₂ — the same basic principle used in commercial fingertip pulse oximeters. But the real question is… Can a $3 module actually work? We: • Inspect the board under the microscope • Check the regulators (3.3V + 1.8V) • Wire it up over I2C • Scan for devices • Capture live red/IR readings • Compare results against a commercial pulse oximeter And surprisingly… it’s not bad.
