A relaxed fingerstyle guitar arrangement of Paul Desmond’s Take Five, originally recorded by the Dave Brubeck Quartet in 1959. This version is adapted for nylon‑string or acoustic guitar and keeps the iconic 5/4 groove while staying playable for intermediate fingerstyle players. The arrangement is inspired by John Zaradin’s version from Popular Songs for the Classical Guitar (1986). I’ve simplified the texture, removed some of the dense inner voices, and reshaped the rhythmic feel to make it smoother and more accessible as a solo guitar piece. What this arrangement focuses on: • Maintaining the 5/4 pulse in a solo guitar setting • A melody‑plus‑bass approach that stays true to the tune • Fingerstyle patterns that support the groove without over‑complication • A musical, approachable version suitable for intermediate players If you enjoy fingerstyle arrangements of jazz standards, feel free to subscribe — more pieces are on the way.
