Following his surprise performance at Concertos Que Nunca Existiram 2025, Frankão told us about community and taking an interventive stance through music. Born in Brasil and based in Porto since 2010, Frankão is a percussionist, producer, and has been a driving force in countless community projects tied to music. Guided through learning and engaging with local creative communities, Frankão views musical independence as the ideal way to create and evolve as an artist. He told us the story behind “Receita do Povo” and how the record was built through a ten year long creative exchange with different communities. This album is an encounter of voices and rhythms, which features the work of Luca Argel, Raquel Lima and Romani communities from Famalicão and Viseu. While reflecting on his work, he also told us about the song “Se liga na pista”, a reworked feature with Diogo Tudela, that describes the far right, namely the government of Jair Bolsonaro, as capitalism’s “dog”.
