Northern Light Infantry’s 20th BMT Batch Passes Out in Grand Ceremony at Bunji

The prestigious passing out parade of the 20th BMT batch of the Northern Light Infantry was held in a magnificent manner in Bunji, Astore. A total of 881 soldiers successfully completed their military training on this occasion. The ceremony featured eight parade contingents, with the training program spanning 27 weeks, from September 2023 to March 2025. The chief guest, Commander Force Command Northern Areas, Major General Syed Imtiaz Gilani, extended heartfelt congratulations to the passing-out soldiers and their parents. In his address, he stated that the sacrifices of the Northern Light Infantry are written in golden letters in history. He emphasized that the ancestors of these soldiers had always set unparalleled examples of courage and bravery in the form of the Gilgit Scouts, Northern Scouts, and Karakoram Scouts. He further remarked that whether it be the snow-covered heights of Siachen, the treacherous mountains of Kargil, or the war against terrorism, the valiant soldiers of the NLI have always demonstrated bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism. The NLI holds the unique distinction of being the only regiment in the history of the Pakistan Army to have received two Nishan-e-Haider medals in a single war, during Operation Koh-e-Paima.
