About Video : IPS Randhir Varma : आतं' कवादियों से अकेले भिड़े थे Dhanbad SP Randhir Varma, परिवार को BJP ने संभाला तारीख 3 जनवरी 1991. दोपहर का वक्त. गुनगुनी धूप के साथ ठंडी बयार ने मौसम सर्दीला बना रखा था. पटना स्थित अपने दफ्तर में बैठे अविभाजित बिहार के तात्कालीन डीजीपी गजेंद्र नारायण को एक पुलिस अधीक्षक के शहादत की खबर मिली तो उनके मुंह से पहली प्रतिक्रिया में कवि गोपाल सिंह नेपाली की उपरोक्त उक्ति निकली. ये किसकी शहादत की खबर थी. वह एसपी कौन थे जिनकी शहादत पर डीजीपी गजेंद्र नारायण के मुंह से शोक भरी आह की जगह कविता की ये दो ओजस्वी पंक्तियां निकली. क्यों, एसपी की शहादत ने पंजाब, बंगाल और दिल्ली तक, मीडिया, सरकार और सियासी दलों को हिलाकर रख दिया था. यह शहादत हुई कहां थी. 3 जनवरी 1991. जगह कोयला नगरी धनबाद. यह सर्दी के मौसम का एक आम दिन था. धनबाद के तात्कालीन एसपी रणधीर प्रसाद वर्मा एसपी कोठी में मौजूद थे तभी फोन की घंटी बजी. उधर से घबराई सी आवाज आई. सूचना थी. भयानक सूचना. फोन करने वाले ने बताया कि बैंक ऑफ इंडिया के हीरापुर शाखा में 3 हथियारबंद डकैत घुस आये हैं. लूटपाट कर रहे हैं. वारदात बड़ी थी और समय कम. तब सूचना के बहुत साधन भी नहीं थे. एसपी रणधीर प्रसाद वर्मा ने आवास में तैनात अपने ब़ॉडीगार्ड को साथ लिया. वर्दी पहनी और अपनी सर्विस रिवॉल्वर लेकर आवास से बैंक ऑफ इंडिया की ओर जीप दौड़ा दी. पहुंचे तो देखा अफरा-तफरी मची है. उस बिल्डिंग की पहली मंजिल पर बैंक था. SP Randhir Verma got to know after reaching there that all the three dacoits were armed with the most modern AK-47 rifles. It would take some time for the reinforcements to arrive. Till then, SP Randhir Verma decided to fight himself. He climbed the stairs to the first floor and challenged the dacoits. On the upper floor, in the bank, there were three dacoits armed with AK-47 and on the stairs below, SP Randhir Verma was with his service revolver and immense courage. The dacoits got scared. He could not believe that someone was challenging him face to face. The bandits opened fire. SP Randhir Verma, who was trying to climb up the stairs, got shot. It seemed that everything was over but SP Randhir Verma was made of a different material. Randhir Verma, who was seriously injured by the bullet, still fought. An encounter started between him and the bandits. The entire Hirapur area trembled with the sound of firing. SP Randhir Verma killed one bandit. By then reinforcements had arrived. The police had taken over the front.
