A healthy form of masculinity, imho, should involve tearing down hierarchies. Weak men rely on the myth of male supremacy, strong men fight for gender equality and see women as peers, not servants or sex objects. If there were such a thing as an "alpha male" he would not give any thought to what is stereotypically masculine or feminine. So much of what young men are told about what they must do to be a "real" man is in maintenance of the status quo, preying on alienated, isolated, vulnerable men. Capitalism benefits from patriarchy, as it divides working people against ourselves rather than against the handful of people with all the wealth and power. As we all struggle to find love and friendship, lonely, confused, and/or angry men are fed misogynistic rage bait that paints all women as shallow, spoiled, dishonest, manipulative, lazy, stupid, wealthy, entitled, etc. It gives a warped view of feminism and women alike, and encourages men to dehumanize women: until they see them as sex objects, useful only as a thing to use for sexual gratification and discard, not as partners or friends. And of course, many industries and grifters will continue to exploit men facing loneliness and insecurity for profit, or even political power. My hope is that more men wake up to the fact that they have been duped, that they will stop allowing themselves to be manipulated. Almost everything they know about feminism, women, sex, relationships, mental health, is completely at odds with facts and the real world. My hope is we have a 4th wave of feminism, where men realize that masculinity as defined by patriarchy and the gender stereotypes it upholds are harmful, and they reject them in favor of a more egalitarian viewpoint that benefits all working class people, and gain an understanding that capitalism, the handful of powerful (mostly) men that have horded the wealth workers created, and patriarchy in particular are behind the majority of their problems not women, women's liberation, or feminism.
