In 2024, I ran just 70 miles all year — averaging 1.3 miles per week. Fast forward to mid-2025, and everything has changed. I've now run over 600 miles, completed my first sub 4 hour marathon, set a new 5K PB of 19:50, and I’m about to take on my biggest challenge yet… my first ultra marathon. On August 16th, I’ll be racing the Foxton Hound 50K — going from 1.3 miles a week to the elusive ultra distance. This video kicks off Week 1 of my 9-week training block, building on my spring marathon base and recent speed training. We’re taking things up a notch now as we prepare to run further than ever before. Strava: / strava 🏃♂️ WEEK 1 BREAKDOWN Tuesday – 6 miles easy + 4 x 20s hill strides Wednesday – 7 miles trail run + 6 x steep hill strides Thursday – 12-mile long run w/ 30 mins @ threshold Saturday – 6 miles easy (late one after Parkrun volunteering!) Sunday – 3 miles easy + 5 miles @ steady HR pace Total: 40 miles I’m aiming to hit the trails twice a week to get used to the terrain difference.
