Hello Folks! I hope that y’all are having a delightfully frightful October Wednesday today! Happy Cthulhu October. Ready to hit up the eleventh story set in my October dedicated to the Cthulhu Mythos? Well, alright then. Let’s head back to Lovecraft for The Shadow Out of Time, one of the final stories he wrote in the Mythos, and a core science fiction/horror tale as well. This horror short story sees our mental health professional hero deal with dreams of a missing era of his life, which he begins to research, that will take him down to deeper and deeper revelations of understandings of an ancient alien race that once called Earth home. As I read this, I feel that Lovecraft was writing this as a reminder to folks that his Mythos was science fiction based. We’ll turn to another science fiction story on Friday as well. Anyways, this is well crafted by Lovecraft, and well written, but you do read the same story three times, and I think there are some pacing issues as a result. Want to check it out?
